Re: MCC: First ever D8 team in the 100-point club?

How about 2003 dePorres, when they gave D1 state champ DCC their only loss? Win over an otherwise undefeated Class A team is worth 144 points by itself, and I seriously doubt anyone else as small ever...

Re: MCC: First ever D8 team in the 100-point club?

Its extremely rare for anyone D6 down to get to 100 POP's. Monroe St. Mary has a shot in D6 as well. I haven't done the math but if they beat LCC, they will be well over 100.

Re: MCC: First ever D8 team in the 100-point club?

What's crazy about that DePorres team is that they beat the eventual D1 champ (Detroit Catholic Central) and D5 champ (Jackson Lumen Christi) that year. In fact, it was DCC's only loss that year. And...

Re: MCC: First ever D8 team in the 100-point club?

I really think it would depend on what kind of team the state champs were. If the D1 champ was a run heavy team...like DCC...MCC could hang with them because their run defense is that good, and the...

Re: MCC: First ever D8 team in the 100-point club?

Right now there are only 13 football teams in all of Michigan with over 100 playoff points.  In the current list, MCC is tied at 18th most in the entire State, despite being one of the smaller schools...

Re: MCC: First ever D8 team in the 100-point club?

One more game that will tip the scales up or down. Muskegon Heights plays today. A win for Heights will push the 99.889 to just over 100. We'll see what happens.

Re: MCC: First ever D8 team in the 100-point club?

Well, Muskegon Heights lost the game and the POP's for MCC fall just below that magic 100. Overall, the point total is VERY similar to the total amassed by the 2008 MCC team, also playing mostly Class...
